Last year’s new location, running in conjunction with the Spring Fair, was such a success that there was little doubt that the Totally shows would return there for this year’s show.
The great response to the new location has helped pave the way for a great return; the forthcoming show is already set to surpass last year’s in terms of size. The show has been shifted to Hall 11 for 2011, a move that has eased its growth and attracted a number of new and returning brands. In fact exhibitor space is selling so quickly that sales director Paul Grinsell predicts it will be a sell out: “We’re on target to be a third bigger in 2011, which is great news for exhibitors and visitors alike as it means more to see and more people seeing it! It is also a strong signal that the market is in better shape and feeling more confident," show director James Murray says. “We are delighted with the growth of the shows for 2011. Ultimately more exhibitors means more brands and products, more choice and innovation, and more opportunities for visitors to generate profit.”
Exhibitors are already preparing their entries for the perpetually popular ShowStopper Awards, which will once again award the best in innovation and design from across the hardware and security sectors. “There is a real sense of anticipation building around the shows now,” says James. “We’re already fielding calls on how to enter new products for the show awards. Visitors and exhibitors alike seem really determined to make the show work hard for them which motivates our team too – we’re looking forward to it!”
New for 2011 is the Totally Retail Tool Box, which will be the lynchpin of the show, replacing the previous New Product Piazza. James explained, “The big change for 2011 is a complete redesign and overhaul of our central feature. New products will still remain key to this but we are keen that visitors are able to find all the essentials for best practice retailing.”
This will include offering opportunities for visitors to improve their product and sales knowledge by sitting in on some product demonstrations, prepare for the retail future by enjoying a taster session for the Mary Portas Retailing Master Classes available across the UK, and listen to the latest retail research. There are also some exciting events taking place across the show, as James told us, “On the Sunday visitors have the opportunity to attend two prestigious awards events. The British Hardware Federation will be presenting its annual BHF Awards, rewarding great suppliers and retailers as nominated by BHF members, and everyone is also welcome to join us as we announce the winners of our Best New Product Show Stopper Awards at the close of the day.
“We are also delighted to support The Rainy Trust, who will be having a party at the National Motorcycle Museum on the Monday evening.”
The shows will take place from February 6 – 8, alongside Spring Fair at the NEC. For more information visit http://2011.totallydiy.co.uk/content/totally-diy
