After ten hugely successful years at the helm of Rug Doctor in the UK, Managing Director Mike Holden is leaving the company in August in order that he can work his magic for the brand in Australia.

Earlier this year, Holden was approached by the Rug Doctor business in Australia with a challenge he simply couldn’t resist. ‘I was asked if I would like to take charge of the Australian operation and this, coupled with the exciting prospect of living ‘down under’ for a number of years, was a life changing opportunity I just couldn't turn down!’ said Holden.

Since joining the company in 2000, Holden has overseen a transformation in Rug Doctor’s fortunes in the UK, “I’m pleased to say that I’m leaving the UK company in pretty good shape. Rentals have never been higher and our distribution is continuing to blaze a trail across the UK. 90% of the UK population are now no more than a 10 minute drive away from a Rug Doctor rental location!”

As well as its dominance of the DIY and Dry Cleaning sectors, Rug Doctor has now increasing availability in the grocery multiples. ‘This is all down to the hard work of the Rug Doctor team here in the UK - as well as having unique machines and cleaning solutions that really do work and do an excellent job for both renters and commercial users alike’, stressed Holden.

Under Holden’s direction, Rug Doctor has successfully pushed into Ireland and mainland Europe as far north as Finland. He was also responsible for the Rug Doctor licensees around the world.

Taking the helm, as Acting Managing Director until a replacement for Holden is found, will be Operations Director, James Budd. ‘After 7 years with the business, Budd has an intimate knowledge of the running of our UK operation and I immediately recommended him to our US parent for this role. I wish him well,’ continued Holden.

Holden leaves for Melbourne in mid August.
