GT's manager swaps lab for spotlight
The sales and marketing manager of one of the UK’s leading suppliers of plant nutrition products is this month swapping his laboratory for the spotlight at the Edinburgh Festival.

Manos Kanellos from Growth Technology in Somerset is performing a variety of free dates at The Hive on Niddry Street throughout the Festival, which takes place from August 6 until 30.

Manos said: “As well as working for Growth Technology, stand-up comedy is my hobby. I have been performing around the UK since coming to Britain 17 years ago from Greece. As stand up is a great passion of mine I decided to do an intensive course at the Comedy School in Camden, London.”

Growth Technology supplies a variety of orchid and houseplant sundries, including nutrient providing Orchid Myst, Houseplant Focus and Olive Focus, as well as growth enhancers to horticultural retailers.

“I really enjoy being in front of a crowd and my act, entitled ‘Manos the Greek’, is based on myths and facts about my homeland. My show is called ‘Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Greece (But Were Afraid To Ask)’ and I’ll be performing every day, except Mondays, from 7.30pm at The Hive in Edinburgh from August 6 until August 29.

“The show is free and I’d love to see some of my friends from the horticultural industry come along if they are going to be at the Festival.”

Launched in 1985, Growth Technology has been developing and manufacturing horticultural products for 25 years.
